BPS-Statistics Banten Province noted year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation in March 2024 was 3.42 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.17. The highest inflation rate occurred in Tangerang City at 3.62 percent and the lowest occurred in Cilegon City at 2.91 percent. The two expenditure groups that provided the largest contribution were food, beverages and tobacco at 2.30 percent, followed by the provision of food and drinks/restaurants at 0.41 percent.
Month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation in March 2024 was 0.98 percent, with the commodity contributing to the biggest inflation being the increase in the price of purebred chicken meat and purebred chicken eggs. Several expenditure groups that contributed to the main inflation were food, beverages and tobacco at 0.59 percent, followed by food and beverage/restaurant supplies at 0.21 percent. This was conveyed by the Head of BPS-Statistics Banten Province, Faizal Anwar, in the press release Monday 1 April 2024.
Meanwhile, the Farmer’s Term of Trade (FTT) in March 2024 was 112.70, a decrease of 2.52 percent compared to February 2024. The agricultural subsector that experienced the largest decline in FTT was food crops by 4.20 percent. Meanwhile, the Farmer Business Exchange Rate was 118.41, down 1.94 percent compared to February 2024.
The average price of milled dry unhulled grain (GKG) in March 2023 at the farmer level was IDR 8,000 per kg, down 8.27 percent from February 2024 which was IDR 8,721 per kg. The price of harvested dry grain (GKP) decreased by 9.00 percent to IDR 6,837 per kg.
BPS-Statistics Banten Province also released the development of Banten Exports in February 2024 reaching US$0.95 billion, down 9.58 percent from January 2024 of US$1.05 billion. The largest non-oil and gas exports were footwear amounting to US$182.34 million, plastics and plastic goods amounting to US$88.09 million, and copper amounting to US$65.58 million. The destination countries for Banten's non-oil and gas exports are China, the United States and Japan. Meanwhile, in terms of imports, for the period January - February 2024, Banten imports reached US$ 5.82 billion or an increase of 4.43 percent from the cumulative January - February 2023 which was US $ 5.58 billion. Banten's three largest non-oil and gas import commodities are electrical machines/equipment, mechanical machines/aircraft, and organic chemicals. Most Banten imports come from China, Singapore and Australia.
In the Tourism sector, BPS-Statistics Banten Province noted that Banten's foreign tourist visits (tourists) in February 2024 increased by 2.52 percent compared to January 2024.
The Room Occupancy Rate (ROR) in February 2024 reached 44.44 percent or an increase of 2.39 percentage points compared to January 2024. However, when compared with February 2023, the Banten Combined ROR on a y-on-y basis decreased by 1, 37 percentage points.
