April 2024 Entering Harvest Season, Prices Of Dry Grain Fall

BPS-Statistics Banten noted that the price of dry grain in April was the lowest price throughout January to April 2024. This was because several areas in Banten Province had entered the harvest season at the end of March 2024. In April 2024, the price of grain was the lowest at farmers for the quality of dried unhusked grain (GKG) was Rp6,423/kg and dried harvested grain (GKP) was Rp5,049/kg. Respectively, it decreased by 19.71 percent for GKG and decreased by 26.15 percent for GKP from March 2024. Meanwhile for the quality of GKG, the highest price was Rp7,000/kg for IR-64 variety, and the lowest price was Rp6,300 for Ciherang variety. This was conveyed by the Head of BPS-Statistics Banten Province, Faizal Anwar, in the press release, Thursday 02 May 2024.


Faizal added, in April 2024 the price index of household consumption in Banten Province increased 0.79 percent. The highest increase occurred in the food, drink, and tobacco expenditure group at 2.04 percent. Provision of food and drinks/restaurants at 0.97 percent, as well as personal care and other services at 0.94 percent.


However, there was a 6.31 percent decrease in the April 2024 Farmer’s Term of Trade (FTT) to 105.59 points. This was caused by a decrease in the index of prices received by farmers (It) by 5.70 percent with the contributing commodities being grain, bananas and red chilies, as well as an increase in the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib) by 0.65 percent with the contributing commodities being garlic, cucumbers, and tomatoes.


Meanwhile, the Agriculture’s Terms of Trade (NTUP) in April 2024 was 111.49 points, down 5.84 percent compared to March 2024. The decline in NTUP was caused by a decline in the index of prices received by farmers (It) by 5.70 percent to 131.38 points. Contributing commodities are grain, bananas and red chilies. Meanwhile, another factor that caused the decline in the NTUP value was the increase in the index of production cost and additional capital goods (BPPBM) of 117.84 points with the contributing commodities being planting wages and plants.
