Banten Economic Growth in Second Quarter 2026

The economy of Banten Province, as measured by the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices, reached IDR 253.09 trillion in the second quarter of 2026. In Q2 2026, the economy of Banten grew by 1.24 percent (q-to-q). The highest growth was recorded in the Public Administration and Defence; Compulsory Social Security sector, which grew by 18.13 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, Government Consumption Expenditure (GCE) recorded the highest growth at 10.98 percent.

The economy of Banten Province grew by 5.49 percent (y-on-y) in Q2 2026. From the production side, the Public Administration and Defence; Compulsory Social Security sector recorded the highest growth at 18.58 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, Government Consumption Expenditure (GCE) recorded the highest growth at 16.86 percent. The economy of Banten Province in the first half of 2026 grew by 5.57 percent (c-to-c) compared with the first half of 2025. From the production side, the Accommodation and Food Service Activities sector recorded the highest growth at 12.78 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, Government Consumption Expenditure (GCE) recorded the highest growth at 15.94 percent.

Poverty Profile of Banten Province in March 2026

The number of people living in poverty in March 2026 was 746.73 thousand, representing 5.38 percent of the population. This figure decreased by 14.1 thousand people compared with September 2025. In urban areas, the number of people living in poverty in March 2026 was 606.11 thousand, representing 5.21 percent of the urban population. This figure decreased by 8.9 thousand people compared with September 2025. Meanwhile, the number of people living in poverty in rural areas decreased by 5.2 thousand, from 145.84 thousand people in September 2025 to 140.63 thousand people in March 2026. The Poverty Line in March 2026 was recorded at IDR 753,492 per capita per month, consisting of a Food Poverty Line of IDR 553,795 (73.50 percent) and a Non-Food Poverty Line of IDR 199,697 (26.50 percent). In March 2026, poor households in Banten Province had an average of 5.17 household members. Accordingly, the average Poverty Line per poor household was IDR 3,895,554 per poor household per month.

Banten Population Expenditure Inequality Index in March 2026

In March 2026, the level of expenditure inequality among the population of Banten Province, as measured by the Gini Ratio, was 0.312. This figure remained unchanged from the Gini Ratio in September 2025, which was also 0.312, and decreased by 0.018 points compared with the Gini Ratio in March 2025, which stood at 0.330. The Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2026 was 0.312, down from 0.314 in September 2025 and 0.335 in March 2025. Meanwhile, the Gini Ratio in rural areas in March 2026 was 0.220, down from 0.234 in September 2025, while slightly lower than 0.221 in March 2025.

Employment Situation in May 2026

According to the National Labour Force Survey (Sakernas), the labour force in Banten Province in May 2026 reached 6.29 million people, an increase of 54 thousand people compared with February 2026. The Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) increased by 0.38 percentage points compared with February 2026. The number of employed people in May 2026 reached 5.88 million, an increase of 57 thousand people compared with February 2026. The sector recording the largest increase in employment was Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing, with an increase of 92.79 thousand people.

In May 2026, 2.88 million people (48.99 percent) were employed in formal activities, a decrease of 3.20 percentage points compared with February 2026. The percentages of underemployment and part-time employment in May 2026 increased by 0.96 percentage points and 0.20 percentage points, respectively, compared with February 2026. The Open Unemployment Rate (OUR) in May 2026 was 6.48 percent, an increase of 0.11 percentage points compared with February 2026.
