Abstract
·
In September 2018, the prices of goods /
services of basic needs of the people in Banten generally decreased. This can
be seen from the decline in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) figure from 141.75
in August to 141.74 in September or a change in index (inflation) of - 0.003
percent;

Five of the seven expenditure groups experienced
an increase in the index, namely: the health group increased by 2.26 percent,
the education, recreation and sports group rose by 1.25 percent; housing,
water, electricity and gas groups rose by 0.33 percent; processed food,
beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups rose by 0.32 percent; and clothing
categories that rose by 0.27 percent while the transportation, communication
and financial services group experienced a decline in the index of -0.09
percent and the foodstuffs group fell by -1.83 percent;

The dominant commodities contributing to
deflation in September were chicken meat, red chili, shallots and broiler eggs;

The calendar year inflation rate was recorded at
2.36 percent, while "Year on Year" inflation (September 2018 CPI
against September 2017) was recorded at 3.42 percent.
