Abstract

In June 2019, the prices of goods / services for basic needs of the people in Banten generally experience increase. This can be seen from the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 145.18 in May to 145.97 in June or a change in the index (inflation) of 0.55 percent.

Seven existing expenditure groups experienced an increase in index, which were respectively: the foodstuffs group experienced an increase in index of 1.38 percent, the clothing group rose by 1.03 percent, the transportation, communication and financial services group rose by 0.72 percent, the group education, recreation and sports have increased by 0.20 percent, housing groups, water, electricity, gas and fuel rose by 0.15 percent, processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups rose by 0.14 percent while the health group did not experience a significant change in the index.

The dominant commodity contributing to inflation in June was red chili, inter-city transportation, wages of domestic helpers, shallots, sweet corn, jengkol and gold jewelry.

The inflation rate for the calendar year was 1.93 percent, while the Year on Year inflation (June 2019 CPI against June 2018) was recorded at 3.72 percent.
