May 2024, BANTEN PROVINCE m-to-m DEFLATION O,52%

BPS-Statistics Banten Province noted that there was deflation of 0.52% month on month in Banten Province, while several commodities contributed to the main contribution to deflation, namely rice, chicken, tomatoes, inter-city transportation and shallots. The decline in commodity prices was due to the fact that supply was well maintained and several areas in Banten Province were still in the harvest period, as well as the return to normal prices of basic commodities after Eid al-Fitr 2024.

Meanwhile, y-on-y inflation in May 2024 was 2.86%, with the main contribution to inflation being the increase in prices for several food, beverage and tobacco expenditure groups with a contribution of 1.64 percent, with the main contributing commodities being purebred chicken, tomatoes and machine-made kretek cigarettes.

The second expenditure group that contributed to inflation was the food and beverage/restaurant provider group at 0.44 percent. with the main contributors to inflation being rice with side dishes, oily pastries and porridge.

Meanwhile, the third largest expenditure group that contributed to inflation was the personal care and other services group at 0.30 percent. The main contributing commodities in this group were gold jewelry, bath soap and sanitary napkins.

"Furthermore, y-on-y inflation in May 2024 was recorded as under control at 2.86 percent, because it is still within the range of 2.5 plus or minus one percent according to the government's target," according to Bambang Widjonarko in an official news release, Monday 03 June 2024 via Live Streaming Youtube Channel BPS Banten.
