Abstract

Entering the month of June 2017, which coincides with the month of Ramadan and Idul Fitri celebration 1438 H, the price of goods / services of basic needs of society in Banten in general has increased significantly. This is evident from the rise in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 135.67 in May to 136.64 in June or an index change (inflation) of 0.72 percent.
All existing expenditure groups experienced an increase in index, ie consecutively: foodstuffs rose by 1.06 percent; Finished food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco groups increased by 0.21 percent; Housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group rose by 0.81 percent; Clothing group rose by 0.94 percent; Health groups rose by 0.76 percent; Education, recreation and sporting groups rose by 0.02 percent and transportation, communication and financial services group rose 1.05 percent.
Dominant commodities contributing to inflation this month are electricity tariff, intercity transport tariff, chicken meat, air transport tariff, red onion, melon, filter cigarettes, rice and fresh squid.
The calendar year inflation rate was recorded at 2.60 percent, while the inflation "Year on Year" (CPI June 2017 to June 2016) was recorded at 4.60 percent.
