There was inflation in August 2021 of 0.13 percent. The highest inflation occurred in Tangerang City at 0.16 percent.

Abstract

In August 2021 there was inflation of 0.13 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.70. Two CPI cities in Banten Province experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tangerang City at 0.16 percent with a CPI of 106.01. Followed by the city of Serang at 0.15 percent with a CPI of 108.98. Meanwhile, the city of Cilegon experienced a deflation of 0.06 percent with a CPI of 108.46.

Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index for housing, water, electricity, and household fuel by 0.44 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.32 percent; transportation group by 0.25 percent; personal care and other services group by 0.15 percent; health group by 0.07 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group of 0.05; and the information, communication and financial services group experienced a change in index by 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, the groups that experienced a decrease in the index were the recreation, sports, and culture groups by 0.12 percent; food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.08 percent, and clothing and footwear group by 0.06 percent. Meanwhile, the education group experienced an insignificant increase in the index of less than 0.01 percent.

Calendar year inflation (January-August) 2021 is 1.04 percent, and year-on-year inflation (August 2021 to August 2020) is 1.46 percent.
