Combined, the three cities in Banten Province experienced deflation in August 2022 of 0.16 percent. The deepest deflation occurred in Cilegon Municipality by 0.45 percent.

In August 2022 there was a deflation of 0.16 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 111.58. The three CPI cities in Banten Province experienced deflation. The deepest deflation occurred in Cilegon Municipality of 0.45 percent with a CPI of 113.97. Followed by Serang Municipality at 0.16 percent with a CPI of 115.54. Followed by Tangerang Municipality at 0.11 percent with a CPI of 110.49.

Deflation occurred due to a decrease in prices as indicated by a decrease in the index of two expenditure groups, namely the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.98 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.07 percent. Meanwhile, the other eight expenditure groups experienced an increase in index, the transportation group by 0.36 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.29 percent; clothing and footwear group; and the health group by 0.10 percent each; recreation, sports, and culture groups by 0.09 percent; education group by 0.07 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.05 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.03 percent; and the information, communication and financial services group by less than 0.01 percent.

Calendar year inflation (August 2022 - December 2021) was 3.68 percent, and year-on-year inflation (August 2022 against August 2021) was 4.58 percent.
