Abstract

From 3 CPI monitoring cities in Banten Province, two cities experienced inflation and one city experienced deflation. The lowest inflation occurred in Serang City at -0.14 percent with a CPI of 118.47 while the highest inflation occurred in Cilegon City at 0.32 percent with a CPI of 117.40.
Inflation occurred due to price increases indicated by increases in most of the expenditure group indices. On the other hand, deflation occurred due to a decrease in prices as indicated by the decline in most of the expenditure group indices. Of the 11 expenditure groups, 8 expenditure groups experienced inflation, 3 expenditure groups did not experience index changes. The food, beverage and tobacco group experienced an inflation of 0.27 percent; the clothing and footwear group experienced inflation of 0.05 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group experienced inflation of 0.01 percent; the equipment, tools and household routine maintenance group experienced an inflation of 0.04 percent; the health group experienced inflation of 0.49 percent; the transportation group experienced inflation of 0.29 percent; the food and beverage/restaurant provision group experienced inflation of 1.53 percent; the personal care and other services group experienced inflation of 0.22 percent; while the information, communication, and financial services group; the recreation, sports, and culture groups and the education group did not experience any changes in index.
The inflation rate for the calendar year March 2023 is 1.35 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (March 2023 against March 2022) is 5.39 percent;
Banten Province experienced inflation of 0.12 percent and the National experienced inflation of 0.18 percent.
