Christmas and New Year, Banten m-to-m Inflation at 0.50%

BPS-Statistics Banten Province noted that during Christmas and New Year 2025, Banten's m-to-m inflation was 0.50 percent. The food, beverage and tobacco group was the main contributor to inflation with a share of 0.47 percent, with three commodities contributing to m-to-m inflation, namely chicken eggs 0.11 percent, red chilies 0.09 percent and cayenne peppers with a share of 0.06 percent.

Meanwhile, Banten's 2024 y-on-y inflation was 1.88 percent, with the main contributor to inflation being the food, beverage and tobacco group with a share of inflation of 0.53 percent, with the main commodities contributing to y-on-y inflation in general being gold jewelry, ground coffee, machine-made kretek cigarettes (SKM), rice with side dishes and cooking oil.

In addition to inflation, BPS-Statistics Banten Province also noted that domestic tourist visits (wisnus) in November 2024 to Banten, both from Banten and from outside Banten, reached 3.78 million trips. On a m-to-m basis, it decreased by 1.80 percent compared to October 2024, and decreased by 4.20 percent y-on-y. The number of domestic tourist trips to Banten on a c-to-c basis, January to November 2024 increased by 9.51 percent compared to the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, domestic tourist trips from outside Banten to Banten were lower than from Banten to other provinces.

On the other hand, the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia via Soekarno Hatta airport reached 212,178 visits, down 2.75 percent from October 2024, and up 13.65 percent compared to November 2023. The three nationalities with the most visits in November 2024 were Chinese citizens at 18.81 percent, Malaysian citizens at 15.70 percent, and Singaporean citizens at 8.54 percent.
