Poverty Profile of Banten Province September 2024

January 15, 2025 | BPS Activities

BPS-Statistics Banten Province released the Banten Province Population Poverty Profile for September 2024 at 5.70 percent. This figure shows a decrease of 0.14 percent compared to March 2024 which was 5.84 percent.

The decrease in the poverty rate also occurred evenly in urban and rural areas. The urban poverty rate in September 2024 was recorded at 5.57 percent from 5.69 percent in March 2024. Meanwhile, rural areas fell to 6.20 percent from 6.44 percent in March 2024.

As in the previous year, the minimum value to meet basic needs (food and non-food) called the Poverty Line (GK) is set as the minimum limit for a population to be categorized as poor or not. For September 2024, the poverty line used was IDR 667,403 per person per month. This minimum limit also increased by 2.02 percent from March 2024 which was IDR 654,213.

In this release of Statistics News, the Head of BPS-Statistics Banten Province, Faizal Anwar also said that in September 2024, the role of food commodities in the Poverty Line was much greater than the role of non-food commodities, which was 72.88 percent of the poverty line.

Meanwhile, non-food commodities contributed 27.12 to the poverty line in September 2024, while non-food commodities that contributed to the poverty line during this period were Housing (12.51%), Gasoline (1.92%) and Electricity (1.67%).

"Thus, in general, it can be described that there has been an improvement in the welfare conditions of the population of Banten Province in September 2024 compared to the conditions in March 2024". It is hoped that in the future, this welfare improvement process will also be balanced by a decrease in expenditure inequality among its residents. In other words, the welfare of the Banten population is increasingly evenly distributed across all levels of society.
