BPS-Statistics Banten Province released the Official Statistics News of inflation on February 3, 2025. On a month-to-month (m-to-m) basis, Banten Province experienced deflation of 1.05 percent. The main expenditure groups that contributed to deflation on a m-to-m basis were the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups with a deflation contribution of 1.60 percentage points. Meanwhile, the main expenditure group contributing to inflation was the food, beverage and tobacco group with an inflation contribution of 0.46 percentage points.


The main commodities contributing to deflation in January 2025 on a m-to-m basis were electricity tariffs of 1.64 percentage points, shallots of 0.03 percentage points, and air transportation of 0.02 percentage points. Meanwhile, the main contributors to the m-to-m inflation in January 2025 were cayenne pepper at 0.27 percentage points, red chili with a contribution of 0.18 percentage points, and cooking oil at 0.04 percentage points.


Meanwhile, year-on-year inflation in January 2025 was 0.85 percent with the main contributors to inflation being the food, beverage and tobacco group with an inflation contribution of 1.08 percentage points. The main contributors to y-on-y inflation in general include gold jewelry, ground coffee, cayenne pepper, cooking oil, and machine-made kretek cigarettes (SKM).
