BPS-Statistics Banten Province released the Official Statistical Report on the Poverty Profile and Expenditure Inequality Level of the Banten Province Population for March 2025 on Friday, July 25, 2025. The percentage of the poor population in March 2025 was 5.63 percent, a decrease of 0.07 percentage points, or 4.7 thousand people compared to September 2024. The percentage of the poor population in urban areas was 5.58 percent, while in rural areas it was 5.89 percent. During this period (March 2025), poverty reduction was relatively consistent in rural areas.
Meanwhile, the minimum value to meet basic needs (food and non-food), known as the Poverty Line (GK), is set as the minimum threshold for categorizing a population as poor. For March 2025, the poverty line used was IDR 684,232 per person per month. This minimum threshold also increased by 2.52 percent from the September 2024 level of Rp. 667,403. Adam Sofian, Head of the Social Statistics Team at the BPS-Statistics Banten Province, also stated that during this period, the role of food commodities in the poverty line was much greater than the role of non-food commodities. In March 2025, food commodities contributed 73.01 percent to the poverty line, primarily from rice, clove cigarettes, and chicken eggs. Meanwhile, non-food commodities contributed 26.99 percent, dominated by housing costs, gasoline (BBM), and electricity.
BPS-Statistics Banten Province also released the Population Expenditure Inequality for March 2025. Banten's Gini Ratio for this period was 0.330, 0.029 percentage points lower than the Gini Ratio for September 2024. This indicates a decrease in expenditure inequality among Banten residents from September 2024 to March 2025.
