Abstract

In July 2020 there was a deflation of 0.06 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.25. Of the 3 CPI cities in Banten Province, 2 cities experienced deflation, and 1 city experienced inflation. The highest deflation occurred in Cilegon City by 0.18 percent with CPI of 106.08. Followed by the city of Tangerang amounted to 0.06 with CPI of 104.80. Unlike the other two cities, Serang City experienced inflation of 0.07 percent with CPI of 107.05.

Deflation occurred due to falling prices as indicated by the decline in the index of the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.62 percent. While other groups experienced an increase in index, namely: the clothing and footwear group of 0.07 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuels by 0.00 percent; household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance by 0.50 percent; health group of 0.22 percent; transportation group of 0.03 percent; information, communication and financial services group of 0.07 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 1.20 percent; education group by 0.29 percent; food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.08 percent; and the personal care and other services group of 0.29 percent.

The inflation rate for the July 2020 calendar year is 1.11 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (July 2020 against July 2019) is 2.01 percent.
