Abstract

In August 2020 there was deflation of 0.08 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.17. All CPI cities in Banten Province experienced deflation. The highest deflation occurred in Kota Tangerang at 0.10 percent with the CPI of 104.69. Followed by the city of Serang at 0.05 with a CPI of 107.00. Cilegon City experienced a deflation of 0.02 percent with a CPI of 106.06.
Deflation occurred due to lower prices as indicated by the decrease in the index for the food, beverage and tobacco category by 1.20 percent. While other groups that experienced increases in index, namely: the clothing and footwear group by 0.06 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 0.10 percent; equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group by 0.03 percent; health group of 0.13 percent; the transportation group of 0.00 percent; the information, communication and financial services group of 0.03 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group by 0.21 percent; the education group of 0.20 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.08 percent; and personal care and other services group of 3.39 percent.
The inflation rate for the calendar year for August 2020 is 1.03 percent and the inflation rate for the year on year (August 2020 against August 2019) is 1.52 percent.
