Abstract

In May 2020 there was an inflation of 0.06 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.14. Of the 3 CPI cities in Banten Province, all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Cilegon City by 0.26 percent with CPI of 106.04 followed by Serang City by 0.05 with CPI of 106.78. Similar to the other two cities, Tangerang City also experienced inflation of 0.04 percent with CPI of 104.71.

Inflation occurred due to price increases indicated by the rise / fall of most of the expenditure group index, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by -0.28 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.66 percent; housing, water, electricity and other fuels by 0.01 percent; household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance group by -0.09 percent; health group of 0.06 percent; transportation group of 1.09 percent; information, communication and financial services group by -0.20 percent; recreation, sports and culture group of 0.04 percent; education group by 0,00 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.02 percent; and the personal care and other services group by -0.09 percent.

The May 2020 calendar year inflation rate is 1.01 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2020 against May 2019) is 2.66 percent.
