In January 2021, there was an inflation of 0.34 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.97. The three CPI cities in Banten Province experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the City of Serang at 0.46 percent with the CPI of 107.91. Followed by the city of Cilegon at 0.34 percent with a CPI of 107.44 and the city of Tangerang at 0.32 percent with a CPI of 105.38.

Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index for the food, beverage and tobacco category by 1.09 percent; the health group by 0.19 percent; the equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group by 0.18 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.16 percent; clothing and footwear group of 0.10; the transportation group of 0.09 percent; the personal care and other services group of 0.04 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuels group of 0.03 percent; the information, communication and financial services group of 0.03 percent; and the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the education group experienced a change in index, but it was not significant at less than 0.01 percent.

The inflation rate for the calendar year January 2021 and the month-to-month inflation rate is 0.34 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2021 against January 2020) is 1.89 percent.
